Klemme Family Visit

The Klemme's came to visit for a long weekend. Our nieces wanted to hold Baby Kiera as soon as they walked in the door and as often as we would let them. This is Kiera with her Aunt Karla and cousins Ava (2.5) and Maya (4.5).

Here is Kiera with her Grandma. She is wearing the baby bunting made by "Aunt" Terry.

On Saturday we went to the zoo. It was a bit windy, but fun. Here is a picture of the whole family - Barb, Ava, Maya, Chris, Killian, Karen, Kevin and Karla (Kiera is in the stroller next to Chris).

The best thing that happened at the zoo was when the daddy orangutan came right up to the window where Ava, Maya and Killian were watching. Ava talked to him for quite awhile, "Hi, Hi, Hi, Hi,..."

Here is Kiera's Grandma having a conversation with her.

On Sunday we went to Kemah. We rode the train, the ferris wheel and carousel. We had a good Mexican lunch and then walked along the boardwalk. The weather was awesome, nice and sunny. The girls ran through the sprinklers...
It was such a fun visit and we were so glad they were able to come visit us and meet Kiera!

St. Patrick's Day and More

Kiera in her "Baby's 1st St. Patrick's Day" onesie from Liz.

The McDonald clan had a good St. Patrick's Day.
Chris in his Utilikilt (a combo of kilt and cargo shorts!)

Killian has been on spring break this week and he has been with us almost all of it! We noticed that we had Monarch butterfly cocoons on our back patio and we watched one of them hatch.

Sleeping baby

Last Saturday I took Kiera to Kara's for her first photo shoot. Here is the link to the pics http://gallery.me.com/karapowell#101045 She was pretty fussy most of the time. The focus of the shoot was closeups on all of her little parts. Kiera and I spent the rest of the afternoon at Nonna and Pops' house. We had a great visit.

First Video

I finally took a video of Kiera today. Here she is playing with her activity gym. It entertained her for a while until she decided she was hungry and then she let out a little cry! I love the Flip Video Camcorder that Grandma/Barb got for us. We will be using it all the time.

Yesterday Kiera and I went out to lunch with the girls (Susan and Lynn). Our first outing to a restaurant. She did pretty well. Of course I dressed her up for this big event. Here she is in her onesie from MawMaw. It says "This is my little black dress"!

One Month Old

We can't believe Kiera is already one month old!

I took her to her to her one month checkup this week. She was 22 inches and weighed 10 pounds 1 ounce. That's 90th percentile in height and 75th percentile in weight! She is becoming much more alert and focusing her eyes on us and other objects. She loves her swing.

Kiera and I also went on our first playdate on Friday. We met Lori and her son David at the park. David is 9 months old. We walked around with the kids in their stollers and then sat in the shade for awhile. We had a good time and hope to meet them again soon.

Chris and Killian have been working on making a garden on the side of our house. Hopefully I can post some pictures of their progress on it soon.

First Bath

We gave Kiera her first bath on Friday. I had been procrastinating on this because I was afraid she would scream and cry the whole time. This picture is at the end of the bath and she actually seemed more happy at the end than at the start - didn't shed a single tear! Maybe she is going to be a water baby like her mom and dad. We decided give her the bath in the kitchen sink lined with towels. It worked pretty well, but definitely needed two adults - one to hold her and one to wash her.

Good news at her weight check last Monday. She was up to 8 pounds 15 ounces. She had gained 9 ounces. Still not at her birth weight of 9 pounds 4 ounces, so we continue to supplement my nursing with formula. We go to the doctor this Thursday for her one month (can't believe it!) checkup.

I forgot to post this picture of Killian checking out his little sister. This was taken Valentine's weekend. Killian was still a little sick, so he didn't get too close.

We took our first trip out as a family of four yesterday. We went to Erin and Jon's housewarming party (I forgot to bring the camera). Erin and Jon rent the house in Seabrook from us. Hurricane Ike visited in September and brought about 3 feet of water into the house. Chris did a great job working with the contractors and insurance company to get it back into livable condition. In fact, practically everything inside the house is new except the toilets and the kitchen sink! It looks great and we know Erin and Jon are happy to be home again.
